Modaflex Co-injection
Modaflex Co-injection additive used along with your favorite arterial embalming fluid always seems to improve embalming results and ease the embalmer’s tasks.
You are able to utilize a consistent
strength embalming solution diluted to the final formaldehyde index level that the manufacturer intended. This eliminates the labor disadvantage of a separate injection step using non-preservative drainage chemicals which could often cause the body to waterlog.
Modaflex aids preservation by
increasing the penetrating power of any embalming solution to which it is added and by its own content of a powerful germicide.
Modaflex contains a water conditioning
agent and calcium sequestrant which insures against typical water quality causing additional blood clots and will also help soften existing clots. Drainage will not be difficult to remove from the body or the prep table surface. The drainage will not clot in the pail when using Modaflex at
recommended concentrations.
Modaflex promotes drainage by
containing wetting agents and also a specific water soluble oil which lubricates the blood vessels. Clots already adhering to the blood vessel walls are loosened and flushed out with the drainage liquids.
Modaflex moderates the body’s moisture
content. It will maintain a normal moisture range in typical bodies, restore moisture content in abnormally dry and emaciated bodies, and reduce excess moisture levels in abnormally wet and dropsical bodies. Normal skin textures will not be sacrificed.
Modaflex prevents embalming caused
dehydration effects; skin leathering, separation of the lips and eyes, and all the other bad effects normally associated with over-embalming using excessive amounts of chemicals.
Application Suggestions:
Normal bodies: Use your normal quantity of the arterial embalming concentrate and add an equal amount through twice as many ounces of Modaflex (1:1 - 1:2, use the greater amounts of Modaflex for the higher formaldehyde indexes). Dilute to make each gallon of injection fluid. Use your
standard drainage procedures. This ratio range will give you a pliable body which is neither dehydrated nor excessively filled out, but will also provide the confidence of protection from over-embalming effects to the skin.
Emaciated and dehydrated bodies: You can utilize a slightly lower index arterial fluid concentrate so that you will inject slightly more fluid than required for a “normal” case. Portion the quantity desired of the embalming concentrate. Add twice through three times amount of Modaflex (1:2 -
1:3 ratio) to make each diluted gallon of injection fluid. Keep the vascular system fully filled throughout the injection procedure by using intermittent drainage. Inject until the face and hands are properly filled. Since the lips will also be filled by this injection, leave them separated slightly to allow
for their expansion. Avoid cavity treatment for the next ten to twelve hours.
Dropsical or excessive moisture cases: Use one through two pints (1 - 2 pints) Modaflex along with your customary amount of arterial concentrate in each gallon of injection fluid. Leave the drainage open. Mix and inject enough of this fluid combination to bring the body’s moisture content down
to normal. This may require as much as six to eight gallons. The Modaflex will inhibit forming horny skin wrinkles due to the embalming.
Infants: Use a relatively small amount (two through four ounces) of your chosen arterial fluid concentrate diluted only with two pints of Modaflex without any additional water. This concentrated mixture will give excellent clearing, color, and skin texture.
Head Freeze: Raise both carotid arteries and inject the head with a concentrated mixture of one pint arterial chemical with 2 pints Modaflex. This technique may be used where swelling is anticipated and for derma surgery cases.
